This portrait of Kardoush patriarch Sam with Caesar, the family's beloved pet and store namesake, is displayed in the shop. The collar of Caesar, who died in 2006, hangs on the frame.

In 1993, when Sam Kardoush was owner of Trinity Wine and Liquor on Germantown Road in Cordova, a friend gave him a boxer puppy as a Christmas present. The dog, which he named Caesar, became a fixture at the store.

"The customers went crazy over him," says Sam's son, Michael. "And he never broke a bottle!"

The Kardoush family relocated the business (renamed Caesar's Wine and Liquor) to Highway 64 in 2005. Caesar died the following year.

Sam is now retired, but still spends time at the store. Sons Charles and Michael continued to run the business until late 2013, where the Gordin family took over operations over Labor Day weekend.
